Volares treats the accessibility of its service as part of the service itself, and works to make this website and the Volares system usable by people with disabilities, in accordance with the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Law, 5758-1998, and the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Regulations (Service Accessibility Adjustments), 5773-2013.

The accessibility standard

This site is built to Israeli Standard IS 5568, “Guidelines for web content accessibility”, which is based on the W3C’s WCAG 2.0 document, at conformance level AA. That is the standard we build and test against, in current versions of the common browsers. It has not been through an independent accessibility audit, and we do not hold a conformance certificate.

Accessibility features on this site

An accessibility menu is available on every page. Open it with the accessibility icon in the corner of the screen, or with the keyboard shortcut Alt+Shift+A. The menu lets you:

Enlarge the text and the display by up to 150%
Switch to a high-contrast mode or a dark mode that inverts colours
Display the page in grayscale
Underline every link
Replace the type with a plainer, more legible font
Widen the spacing between lines, words and letters
Highlight the keyboard focus, enlarge the mouse cursor, and stop animation and motion

Keyboard navigation and screen readers

Every page can be navigated with the Tab key, and controls are operated with Enter and Space. A “skip to content” link at the top of each page lets you bypass the navigation menus. Page structure, control labels and control states are marked up with ARIA for screen readers, and the choices you make in the accessibility menu are stored in your browser for your next visit. Animation on this site is also switched off automatically when your operating system is set to reduce motion.

Known limitations

Despite our efforts, parts of this site may not yet be fully accessible. These are the ones we know about:

Embedded video does not yet carry captions in Hebrew.
Documents published as PDF are displayed as they were authored, and their accessibility depends on the source file.
New pages and posts may not yet have gone through a full accessibility review. These are corrected on an ongoing basis.
